IT’S A WASH-OUT! MORE RAIN ON THE WAY – FLOODING IN MANY AREAS

first_imgUPDATED: MORE RAIN is on the way – and there might be even more over the weekend, forecasters have warned.BBC Northern Ireland has issued a weather warning for Ulster for torrential downpours causing poor road conditions. There are reports of flooding on many roads this evening including in Letterkenny, Ramelton, Milford, Gaoth Dobhair, Donegal Town, Pettigo and Lifford. The Mill River in Buncrana has also burst its banks.Surface water on the Barnesmore Gap – coupled with high winds – is causing problems for drivers.A Garda spokesman said: “After a day of torrential rain conditions on many Donegal roads are treacherous. We would appeal to motorists to slow right down to take account of the worsening conditions.”And Met Eireann agrees it’s going to be very wet over the weekend – saying it may be Sunday afternoon or evening before things clear up. The good news is that temperatures will rise to more normal levels on Sunday evening and into Monday.“This weekend will be unsettled and changeable at first, with some heavy showers or longer bursts of more prolonged rain at times, thundery in places. But much drier weather is expected to develop late Sunday and continue through Monday. Temperatures should get back to normal ( mid to high teens ) or maybe even slightly above,” reports Met Eireann. In fact temperatures on Monday could reach 19C or 20C over Donegal with a similar prediction for Tuesday – with it being mainly dry with the odd shower. IT’S A WASH-OUT!
